A metal bookmark which has been created especially for the British Museum by David Howell.
The design features a festive scene of London on Christmas Eve, with the British Museum to the front and St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben, London Eye and Santa on a sleigh ride in the background.
The Museum building today reflects many moments of its past history. Formed in 1753, it is the oldest national, public and secular museum in the world. The part of the Museum that is featured on this bookmark is the oldest part of the Greek Revival building that from the 1820s replaced the converted aristocrat mansion in which the museum first opened in 1759. This part presents the Age of Enlightenment and Discovery in the restored former King's Library.
Ideal as a stocking filler.
