Vivien Leigh provides, perhaps, the screen’s most complex portrayal of Cleopatra in this sumptuously mounted Technicolor comedy-drama, scripted by George Bernard Shaw from his own play. A starry cast of British actors is led by Claude Rains as the avuncular Julius Caesar. Introduced by Egyptologist John J Johnston.
