    A pair of earrings inspired by the ’O-mikuji’

    These earrings aremade from a combination of oxidized silver, enamel on copper, gold-plated silver and cotton cord.

    The O-mikuji are random fortunes written on strips of paper at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples in Japan.

    Mariko Sumioka is a contemporary jewellery artist, who currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. She is inspired by the relationship and contrasts between human beings and nature; manmade and natural objects. By looking at traditional Japanese architecture and the spirit of Zen, she understands more how the Japanese love nature and live together.
