A small bowl crafted from Chinese jade.

In China jade has been a material of the highest value since ancient times, above silver and gold. Translucent yet tough, jade was worked into ornaments, ceremonial weapons and ritual objects by Chinese craftspeople, as well as into ceramics. There are many examples of Chinese jade bowls from antiquity in the British Museum collection.

This modern version has been sourced from artisans in China and measures 5 inches wide.
