This ducks snuff bottle has been decorated using the technique of Inside Glass Painting.
Inside-painting developed in the late 18th century. It was a method by which to decorate the (by then ubiquitous) glass bottle without the risk of the paint wearing off. A bamboo hooked brush, with just a few hairs at one end, was inserted through the neck of the bottle, and an image and/or Chinese calligraphic characters, painted in reverse from within.
Jacarte is passionate about the art of Inside Glass Painting. Combining rare traditional skills with neoclassic and contemporary design is the cornerstone of the creative process. The results are works of fine art. Each piece is hand sculpted from optical crystal glass and meticulously painted with a very fine brush. Each has a legend, myth, or inspirational thought behind its conception.
