A stained glass hanging decoration.
The decoration features a hand-painted design detail taken from the beautiful stained glass windows at Sainte Chapelle, Paris. Shown is a Grisaille motif, which is a 14th century stained glass window style that uses lines and cross- hatching to simulate tone.
Use of grisaille meant that large areas of stained glass could be made less expensively as less coloured glass was used - but it became an art form in itself, and can be seen in many of the medieval cathedrals in Britain.
Part of our Made in Britain range, this hanging decoration is hand-crafted in the borders of Scotland and Cumbria. Each is framed with traditional stained glass lead, hung with trace chain and soldered by hand.
Ideal as a culturally-inspired gift, the roundel is supplied in a velvet presentation box.
