Power and image in Ife, West Africa, and Renaissance Europe
Speakers Luke Syson, National Gallery, and John Picton, formerly SOAS, discuss the projection of power and artistic patronage as seen in sculptures from Ife in West Africa and Renaissance art between 1200 and 1500. Both traditions produced sophisticated works of art that reflect the society in which they were created. Chaired by John Mack, University of East Anglia.
