Replica bust of Ariadne
£225.00
This delicate bust, mounted on a cotton-reel base, is a superb representation of Ariadne, the classical heroine who fell in love with Theseus and helped him escape from the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur.
Ariadne was one of the many children of King Minos II of Crete. During her time, the naval power of her father decayed and she contributed to this by providing aid to Theseus, prince of Athens with whom she had fallen in love.
This replica is cast from a 19th century mould in the Museum collections.
