These elegant bookends are hand carved from soapstone. Soapstone mines are located in northern India around 500kms away from Agra. Artisans, who are good with hand work and detailed craftsmanship, convert the stone into beautiful pieces through carving each piece individually. It is a highly labour intensive process and the hand-crafting skills required are passed from generation to generation. Because they are hand carved, each piece is truly unique. Sold as a pair.
