    About

This colourful design has been taken from artwork of the Anis al-Hujjaj (The Pilgrim's Companion) by Safi ibn Vali. The illustrations show 'Abdi Pasha, the Amir al-Hajj who was in charge of the organisation of the Egyptian caravan, on the way to Medina (fol. 18b).'

The original is from India, possibly Gujarat, c.1677-80 AD and is an ink water colour with gold on paper.
