The British Museum relies upon the ongoing support of many generous individuals, who are committed to the work of the Museum and its curators, and to the care and preservation of the collection.

Donations made to the British Museum support the acquisition of important objects to complement the Museum’s collection. They are used to help grow the Museum’s collection of contemporary objects, which are held for the benefit of future generations. Donations also contribute to the Museum’s active research programme, designed to deepen knowledge and promote understanding of the collection.
