    A traditional Japanese bowl and lid set used for serving a type of sushi called chirashizushi (also known as chirashi).

    The design consists of ornate motifs set against a base of black lacquerware. The bowl is traditionally used for serving chirashizushi (the Japanese term for which is ?????, which translates to "scattered sushi"): the Japanese dish where a bowl of vinegar rice is topped with a variety of sashimi (raw fish) and garnishes.

    Ideal as a gift, the bowl is specially available to complement the exhibition, Shunga: sex and pleasure in Japanese art.
