A turquoise teapot made from turquoise porcelain with a celadon glaze and a golden lid. Designed by Alison Appleton, the shape was inspired by Parisian Tea salons, whilst the decoration pays homage to Chinoiserie, a style in art that reflects Chinese influence through use of elaborate decoration and intricate patterns.
Golden carp, also known as goldfish, originated in China and often feature as motifs on traditional Chinese pottery. In Chinese tradition, golden carp symbolises abundance of gold. Together the carp, lotus flower and golden lid on this design conjure up the ultimate symbol of good fortune representing prosperity, harmony, bliss and spiritual enlightenment.
