    About

An etching from 1825 showing the Elgin Room at the British Museum.

The drawing, by the British artist Charles Heath, depicts a view west down the Temporary Elgin Room containing the Parthenon sculptures or 'Elgin marbles'; with the frieze along the walls and sculptures, inscriptions and architectural fragments placed in front. The colossal figure of Dionysus can be seen at end, where two visitors are drawing.

The drawing is reproduced here as a print on archive quality paper (remains colour-true for 100 years).
