A lightweight silk scarf featuring a design inspired by the brightly decorated ceramics from the period of Ottoman Turkey (around 1540-70).

The ceramics of Iznik were among the finest works of art produced in the Ottoman Empire. The technical quality of this pottery and the beauty of its designs have long made it one of the most popular art forms from the Islamic world.

Designed by the Museum's in-house team, Iznik patterns have been interpreted here in silk. The scarf measures 1.5 metres long by 36 cm wide.
