“My favourite products are the Mexican hand beaded skulls – they are so colourful and unique and the meticulous detail that the artists put into the designs is really amazing.” – Francesca, Buyer
A beaded skull handmade by Peyote People in Mexico, and reflects the geometric examples of Huichol Indian art.
Deep in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Western Mexico live the Huichol Indians. Very little is known about the exact origins of the Huichol, but today they are clinging to a set of customs and beliefs that make them one of the best preserved Pre- Columbian tribes in the Western Hemisphere. Bright and colourful bead art is one of their cultural traditions. These exquisite skulls are handmade by the Huichol Indian tribes and display the charms of this art form.
Peyote People is a fair trade co-operative based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico- the home of the Huichol Indians. It is recognised for its commitment to promoting Huichol Indian artwork and preserving their customs and traditions.
A one-of-a-kind adornment for the home. Each skull is unique and reflects hours of skilled craftsmanship.
The skull measures 20cm x 13cm and has a moveable jaw, as pictured.
