It was thought that this female head in Parian marble came from one of the pediments designed by Scopas for the temple of Athena Alea, and because of this, it was identified with Atalante and later Hygeia.

In fact, the elegance of this peaceful yet melancholic face has little to do with the energy and passion of Scopas' figures, and after some study the work is now thought to come from a follower of Praxiteles at the end of the 4th century B.C.

This replica was moulded from the original currently located in the National Museum of Greece in Athens.
