    About

A hand-painted glass case made in papier-mache, decorated with a Palekh folk scene. The Russian village of Palekh is known primarily for their tradition of hand-made items embellished with miniature painting. Following the October Revolution of 1917 with its outspoken atheist ideology, the Palekh masters of iconography began to paint papier-mâché boxes representing characters from real life, literary works, fairy tales, bylinas, and songs, while applying the same principles they had learned from painting icons.

    Please note:

This individually hand-crafted item comes in assorted, varying designs and a particular design cannot be selected.
