Fun birthday card featuring the Rosetta Stone and 'Happy Birthday' in hieroglyphs.
On the card, an ancient Egyptian is carving the Rosetta stone, with a cat adorned in a similar way to the famous Gayer Anderson Cat looking on. Above the stone are the hieroglyphs for “Happy Birthday” and below is the translation.
The Rosetta Stone is one of the most famous objects in the British Museum’s collection. It was discovered in 1799, by which time all knowledge of the Ancient Egyptian language and writing had been lost for over 1,000 years. The three ancient Greek section of the inscription enabled hieroglyphics to be read for the first time.
