Ancient Greek Snake Bracelet
An adjustable gold-plated pewter bangle in the shape of a serpent.
Snake rings and bracelets have always been popular choices to adorn wrists and hands, and were often worn for protection against the evil eye or to ensure fertility. Snakes were associated with the healing god Ascelpius, who is frequently shown with a snake coiled around a staff.
This example is based on a Graeco-Roman piece from the 1st–2nd century AD. The original is now housed in the Department of Greece and Rome at the British Museum.
A fabulous gift inspired by historical jewellery.
