Anubis Statue Men's Socks

A pair of cosy men’s cotton socks inspired by the ancient Egyptian god Anubis.

The socks are part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

These socks are made from a cotton blend and fit a UK men’s size 6.5-11. The design features an outline figure of Anubis wearing gold armour and carrying a gold spear against a black background.

Anubis is one of the most well-known of the ancient Egyptian gods. Worshipped as the guardian and protector of the dead, Anubis was usually depicted as a jackal (a long-legged wild dog) or a wolf. He is also sometimes depicted as having the body of a man and the head of a dog. Anubis watched over the mummification process before conducting the soul through the underworld. He was present for the Weighing of the Heart ceremony, and determined whether the deceased was worthy to enter the realm of the dead.
