Bayeux Tapestry Silk Tie
A silk necktie featuring a print of scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry.
The Bayeux Tapestry is an 11th century embroidered cloth which measures nearly 70 metres long. The embroidery illustrates the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England, and is thought to have been produced sometime after the Battle of Hastings in 1066 in a monastery in the South of England. Despite its name, the Bayeux Tapestry is not technically a tapestry since the imagery has been hand-embroidered rather than woven.
The impressive original is on display at the Musée de la Tappisserie de Bayeux in Normany, France.
Ideal as a historically-inspired gift.
