The front of the British Museum was designed by the architect Sir Robert Smirke (1780-1867) in 1823. Smirke designed the building in the Greek Revival style, which emulated classical Greek architecture. Features on the building include the colonnade and portico shown in this design. The mug also includes artefacts from the British Museum's collection, including the Gayer-Anderson Cat, the Discobolus, the Rosetta Stone and the Portland Vase.
