A pair of earrings inspired by early Byzantine openwork jewellery in the British Museum exhibition Egypt: faith after the pharaohs .

These earrings, made with moonstone freshwater pearls, are part of a range designed exclusively for the British Museum by well-known jewellery designer Nicky Butler, who creates distinctive silver and gemstone jewellery using multiple and over-sized stones.

Nicky Butler's range for Egypt: faith after the pharaohs is inspired by a collection of openwork early Byzantine pieces made from sapphire, pearl, gold and emerald. Egypt was under Byzantine rule for over six centuries and was influenced by the religion, language and culture of the wider Byzantine Empire.
