<p>A 24 carat gold plated bracelet inspired by by a gold early Byzantine bracelet. </p> <p>It features a front opening on a hinge and a  hoop a band of open-work with plain tube edges. The design, beginning at the back of the hoop, consists of a pair of peacocks facing and separated by a vase; on each side of them a pair of facing swans, and at each end a peacock facing the front; all surrounded by scrolls and bands of open-work lozenges; the front a circular medallion, flanked by oblongs with two square settings, now empty which would originally have held semi precoius stones. </p>

Exclusive to the British Museum, a 24 carat gold-plated bracelet inspired by an early Byzantine bracelet.

This design has been inspired by a 6th century gold bracelet which is now in the British Museum collection. The pattern on the original, copied faithfully here, consists of peacocks and swans surrounded by scrolls and bands of open-work lozenges. On the clasp is a circular medallion, flanked by oblongs with two square settings, now empty, which would originally have held semi-precious stones.
