Exclusive to the British Museum, an assorted rubber with a design inspired by traditional ancient Egyptian canopic jars.

The eraser is part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

This rubber is made in the UK and includes designs inspired by the four divine characters that decorated traditional canopic jars. Please note, designs are selected at random and specific characters cannot be guaranteed.

Canopic jars were used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the internal organs of the deceased for the afterlife. Originally plain in design, by the Nineteenth Dynasty, the lids would commonly feature depictions of the four sons of Horus, each associated with a single organ; baboon-headed Hapi with the lungs, jackal-headed Duamutef with the stomach, falcon-headed Qebehsenuef with the intestines, and the human-headed Imsety with the liver.

A lovely stationery gift for children.
