<p>Handmade sterling silver earrings inspired by Celtic art. <br /> <br /> Celtic art is the European decorative style that emerged from Ireland to Romania in 500 BC to AD 100. Celtic craftsmen adapted ideas from nature to produce wonderfully sophisticated designs featuring spirals, crosses and entwined plant motifs. <br /> <br /> These stud earrings feature knotwork, which is probably the best known style of Celtic design. Featuring an intricate knotwork design, these sterling silver stud earrings have been hand-crafted by Ortak Jewellery in the Orkney Islands using traditional silversmithing techniques. The intertwined never-ending patterns of the knots represent the Celtic belief in eternal life.

The Celtic culture spread across much of Europe during the Middle Age, and its Insular La Tére style, characterised by intricate knows and skilful metalwork, reached Britain in around the 3rd century.
