Exclusive to the British Museum, a children’s t-shirt featuring an illustration of the ancient Egyptian god Anubis.

The t-shirt is part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

This t-shirt is made in the UK from 100% cotton and is machine washable. The t-shirt fits a size 5-6 years and is based on a drawing from the Nosy Crow and British Museum collaborative title, So You Think You’ve Got it Bad? A Kid’s Life in Ancient Egypt, which shows a child trying to play fetch with Anubis.

Anubis is one of the most well-known of the ancient Egyptian gods. Worshipped as the guardian and protector of the dead, Anubis was usually depicted as a jackal (a long-legged wild dog) or a wolf. He is also sometimes depicted as having the body of a man and the head of a dog. As can be seen in art from the time, Anubis watched over the mummification process before conducting the soul through the underworld. He was present for the Weighing of the Heart ceremony and determined whether the deceased was worthy to enter the realm of the dead.

A brilliant gift for budding young Egyptologists.
