An ancient Greek plaque of a sepulchral warrior. Created exclusively for the British Museum, the sculpture a is made from cold cast marble and measures 40cm tall.

The relief shows a warrior at a burial site or tomb. He is standing by a pillar with a downturned spear and a serpent at his feet, symbolising the soul of the deceased.

It is based on a 1st century BC fragment of a marble relief from the collection of The British Museum. The original, which stands at 74cm, was found at Rhodes, Greece. It can be seen in gallery 23 of the Museum.
