Delivery
How much do you charge for delivery?
Delivery charges are calculated based on the volumetric weight and destination of your order. The total will be displayed on the final page before payment is entered.
Standard delivery is free for all UK orders over £100, excluding custom art prints. Please see separate delivery pricing structure for custom art prints below.
Custom prints are currently unavailable for non-UK orders.

When will I receive my order?
Standard orders to the UK are normally delivered within three to five working days of the order being placed, excluding custom art prints and made to order sculptures – please see below for further information on these exceptions.
International orders are delivered by Royal Mail, Parcelforce International, GLS Parcels or your local carrier. Delivery times may vary depending on destination, but we aim to have orders delivered within:
- 14 working days for Europe, North America, and Australasia
- 7-28 working days for the rest of the world
Please allow more time during busy periods, for example, before Christmas.
If you have not received your order after the recommended time, please contact us with your order number and email address.
Custom art prints: all made to order prints are made and dispatched by a partner firm and have a longer delivery schedule. Premium delivery is not available for these items.
Custom art prints are currently only available for UK orders, and will take up to 5 working days for unframed, or up to 10 working days for framed prints to be delivered.
Made to order sculptures: please allow up to sixteen weeks for delivery of made to order replicas. Premium delivery is not available for these products.
If your order weighs over 30kg, please contact customer services for special delivery arrangements.
May I choose a premium delivery?
Premium next day delivery is available for UK orders. Select the Premium Delivery option at the checkout to ensure your order is dispatched as quickly as possible. Premium orders are delivered by Parcelforce 24 or Royal Mail Special Delivery and will require a signature.
Orders placed before 1pm UK time Monday-Friday will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. Orders placed after 1pm will be dispatched the following day.
Please note, we do not process orders on weekends or public holidays, so any premium orders placed on a Friday after 1pm UK time will be processed on the following working day, to be delivered the day after.
If you have paid for Premium 24hr delivery and your order does not arrive in time, this may be due to delays with the carriers. Please contact us at customerservices@britishmuseum.org and we will refund the premium delivery cost.

Do I have to pay customs charges?
Our postal charges for most destinations outside the UK include all customs and duties charges and VAT.
On occasion customs charges beyond our control will be charged to the customer. In this case, please contact Customer Services at customerservices@britishmuseum.org with evidence of the charge and the payment will be reimbursed to you.
Unfortunately for the below countries and territories the customer will be responsible for paying customs and duties charges:
Europe:
Andorra, Azores, Corsica, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey, Madeira, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Spain-Balearic Islands, Switzerland, Turkey, Vatican City State, Spain-Canary Islands
Rest of world:
Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, British Virgin Islands, People’s Republic of the Congo, Dominica, East Timor, Guyana, Iraq, Kosovo, Mongolia, Norfolk Island, Spitzbergen, St Christopher and Nevis, Tonga, Uzbekistan, Israel
Please note, if you contact us on receipt of your goods to these countries, we will refund the customs charges.
Custom art prints:
Our range of custom art prints are made to order by a UK-based company, and are currently available for delivery within the UK only. Custom prints cannot be sent via premium delivery. Please see below estimated delivery times and charges.
Please note, each print is made to order therefore we cannot accept returns unless the print is damaged, incorrect or faulty.
