A pack of three badges inspired by manga character Eel-dog (Unagi-Inu).

Eel-Dog (Unagi-inu) was born half dog and half eel and is a beloved creation of Akatsuka Fujio. Eel-Dog originated as one of the playful sub-characters of Akatsuka’s most famous long-running manga, Tensai Bakanon.

Part of an exclusive range to accompany the British Museum’s major exhibition exhibition Manga.

More about the artist

Akatsuka Fujio (1935 - 2008) was a pioneer of comic or ‘gag’ manga.

Akatsuka created easily readable yet sophisticated images, experimenting with frames, texts and playful characters to create his signature nonsense manga, with text often taking a back seat to the characters and drawing.

His legacy is still very much alive; the publisher Shueisha has been hosting the Akatsuka award for new gag-manga artists since 1974.
