Eel-Dog (Unagi-inu) is a manga character that was born half dog and half eel and is a beloved creation of Akatsuka Fujio. Eel-Dog originated as one of the playful sub-characters of Akatsuka’s most famous long-running manga, Tensai Bakanon.

Akatsuka Fujio (1935 - 2008) was a pioneer of comic or ‘gag’ manga.

Akatsuka created easily readable yet sophisticated images, experimenting with frames, texts and playful characters to create his signature nonsense manga, with text often taking a back seat to the characters and drawing.
