The accompanying title to the 2014-15 Museum exhibition, Egypt: faith after the pharaohs.

Egypt: faith after the pharaohs reveals the extraordinary transition in Egypt's religious beliefs from an ancient pantheon of pagan gods to the one God of the three Abrahamic faiths. Due to its arid climate, Egypt preserves a unique range and abundance of evidence providing insights into the emergence and establishment of new religions, their relationship to each other and the pagan past. Over 300 objects have been specially selected for this publication, providing insights into the emergence and establishment of new religions, their relationship to each other and the pagan past.

Through beautiful works of art, as well as the architectural history of sacred buildings, we gain a better understanding of the lives of ordinary and extraordinary people in this important period in Egyptian history. The book is written by a team of international experts, drawing on the last thirty years of research and covering 1200 years of history.
