Egyptian Hieroglyphs Pattern Tie
A pale silk tie with a design inspired by ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs were developed c.3000 BC and were used for formal inscriptions. The alphabet is comprised of a series of symbols and characters, which includes birds, reeds and ankhs. The hieroglyphs were sometimes called ‘The Words of the Gods’ and were mainly used by priests. Although the ability to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs was lost for centuries, they were finally deciphered by Jean-François Champollion in the 19th century, advancing the study of Egyptology immeasurably.
A handsome gift for a language lover.
