A beautiful silk tie with a design inspired by ancient Egyptian painted papyri.

The tie is part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

This tie is made from 100% hand-finished silk. The repeating design is inspired by the incredible papyrus paintings which were produced in ancient Egypt, which often depicted gods, pharaohs, pastoral scenes and rows of hieroglyphic texts.

The first use of papyrus paper is believed to have taken place around 4000 BC. The ancient Egyptians kept the technology of papyrus-making secret, enabling them to hold the monopoly on its production.

A stylish gift for an art-history lover.
