Exclusive to the British Museum; a souvenir coin inspired by the iconic woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai called the Fuji Wave, also known as the Great Wave.

The Fuji Wave taken from the series 'Thirty- six Views of Mount Fuji' and was made in Japan in around 1831. It shows fishermen cowering in three skiffs, almost praying in supplication to the 'Great Wave' about to crash down on them. Only Mount Fuji, low in the hollow of the wave, as if seen through a telescope, stands unperturbed by the impending catastrophe.

The façade of the Museum and the British Museum logo is on the reverse side of the coin. A display plastic case is included.

The original is in the Museum's collection, read more here.
