Part of our Made in Britain range, this luxurious scarf features two traditional British fabrics: Harris Tweed and English dress velvet.

Harris Tweed is the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament. It is only made in Scotland on the Isle of Harris or the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and is thicker than the softer Scottish tweeds. Like the other Scottish tweeds the colours are striking and within each tweed, upon close inspection, a rainbow of colours can be found. In English history, velvet is associated with luxury- King Richard II of England directed in his will that his body should be clothed in velvetoin 1399. The combination of velvet and orb- marked Harris Tweed fabrics on this scarf makes for a striking, fine-quality garment.

This scarf is handmade by Helen Chatterton- a Liverpool-based artisan. Because each scarf is created from different swathes of fabric, each one is unique and will differ from the one pictured here.

A one- off, well made item that will last for years to come.

A sumptuous scarf hand-crafted from a Harris Tweed and a classic English dress velvet.

These majestic scarves are handmade by Liverpool-based artisan Helen Chatterton, using swathes of two of Britain’s most well-known fabrics. Each of the scarves Helen creates are made using different colours and fabrics, guaranteeing that each is a one-of-a-kind piece.

The velvet fabric has long been associated with luxury, and was historically worn by the royal family and the nobility. In 1399, King Richard II of England directed in his will that upon his passing his body should be clothed in velvet, proving it to be a fabric fit for a king. Harris Tweed is the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament, and is only produced on the Scottish Isles of Harris and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The two high-quality fabrics combine to produce beautiful scarves.

Celebrating the best of Britain, this scarf will make an exquisite gift.
