Greek Red-Figure Vase Wooden Postcard

Exclusive to the British Museum, a wooden postcard based on an ancient Greek Persian-inspired vase.

This postcard forms part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Luxury and power: Persia to Greece.

The wooden postcard is made in the UK from FSC-certified wood, and can be sent via 1st or 2nd class post.

The design is based on an Athenian vase which dates to around 410-400 BC. The red-figure illustration depicts the procession of a Persian provincial ruler who is riding a camel, surrounded by dancers.

The Persian court of the Achaemenid Empire was characterised by lavish displays of wealth and luxury. This was later emulated by the Greeks and Macedonians.
