<p>These earrings have been based on an artefact within the British Museum collection, English, 1840-80, which is part of the Hull Grundy Gift. On the original piece, a spray of trembler-mounted dog-roses is set with Chrysoberyls. This piece is not marked, but is thought to be continental, with the use of the Chrysoberyls suggesting an Iberian origin. <br /> <br />Find out more about the original piece <a title="Select this link to view the British Museum Collections page featuring the original piece." href="http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/search_the_colle ction_database/search_object_detai ls.aspx? objectid=83373&partid=1&searchText=chrysoberyl+rose&numpages =10&orig=%2fresearch%2fsear ch_the_collection_database.aspx&currentPage=1">here.</a></p>

Exclusive to the British Museum, a dazzling brooch pair of drop earrings inspired by roses in bloom.
The design of the earring pendant is based on a French brooch that is housed within the British Museum’s collection. The original, which dates to c.1890, is based on a spray of Rosa canina dog-roses, which are pave-set with green chrysoberyl stones, and surrounded by delicately detailed gold-plated leaves. The brooch was part of the 1978 Hull Grundy gift, and showcases Anne Hull Grundy’s passion for Victorian botanical jewellery.
A lovely gift inspired by the beauty of nature.
Please note that for hygiene reasons, pierced earrings cannot be refunded.
