Iznik Ceramic Plate, 40cm
A hand-painted ceramic plate inspired by traditional Iznik tulip designs.
About Iznik Pottery:
Produced throughout the late 15th to late 17th centuries, the ceramics of Iznik, Turkey, were among the finest works of art from the Ottoman Empire. Influenced by Ottoman arabesque patterns as well as traditional Chinese design, the pottery is often decorated with flowers and abstract patterns in bright, vivid colours. The technical quality of the pottery, and the beauty of its designs, have long made it one of the most popular art forms from the Islamic world. Several pieces of Iznik pottery are housed in the British Museum, and can be seen on display in the Islamic galleries.
Please note, as this plate is hand-crafted, each design is unique and may differ from the image shown.
A culturally-inspired gift for the home.
