Exclusive

Exclusive to the British Museum, a wool silk scarf featuring modern interpretations of the colourful motifs found on Iznik ceramics.

Produced throughout the late 15th to the late 17th centuries, the ceramics of Iznik, Turkey, were among the finest works of art from the Ottoman Empire. Influenced by Ottoman arabesque patterns as well as traditional Chinese design, the pottery was often decorated with flowers and abstract patterns in bright, vivid colours. The technical quality of the pottery, and the beauty of its designs, have long made it one of the most popular art forms in the Islamic world.

Several pieces of Iznik pottery are housed in the British Museum, and can be seen on display in the Islamic galleries.

A stunning gift for an art lover.
