J.M.W. Turner Postcard Pack
Exclusive to the British Museum, a pack of ten postcards featuring art by J.M.W. Turner.
Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) is perhaps the best-loved English Romantic artist. He became known as the ‘painter of light’, because of his increasing interest in brilliant colours as the main constituent in his landscapes and seascapes.
The works in this postcard pack are from the R.W. Lloyd Bequest to the British Museum. The terms of Lloyd’s bequest to the British Museum stipulated that the paintings could only be shown for two weeks in February or by special request, and should never be lent. As a result, they are rarely seen, but have remained as brilliant as the day Turner painted them.
A magnificent set of postcards celebrating the beauty of landscapes.
