Returns and FAQs:

A necklace with a lapis lazuli-inlaid pendant inspired by the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis.

The necklace is part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

This necklace is made in the USA from pewter and lapis lazuli and is finished with a gold-plated snake chain. The pendant shows the goddess with outstretched wings which represent the far reach of her powers.

The divine wife of Osiris, god of the afterlife, and mother of Horus, god of the sky, the goddess Isis is closely linked with motherhood, rebirth and royal power. In mythology, Osiris was killed and dismembered by his jealous brother Set, who scattered the fourteen parts of his body throughout Egypt. While mourning for her husband, Isis tracked down each of the parts, save one, and resurrected Osiris long enough to conceive Horus.

A beautiful piece for a history lover.
