Returns and FAQs:

Maat or Mayet, thought to have been pronounced as (Muh-aht) was the Ancient Egyptian concept of truth, balance, order, law, morality, and justice. Maat was also personified as a goddess regulating the stars, seasons, and the actions of both mortals and the deities, who set the order of the universe from chaos at the moment of creation.

A replica of the ancient Egyptian goddess Maat.

This resin ornament represents Maat, also Ma’at or Mayet, in a crouched position on a marble base. A serene expression plays across her face, and her head is decorated with a single ostrich feather; a common symbol of the goddess.

The goddess Maat was viewed as the personification of the ancient Egyptian principles of truth, balance and justice. She was sometimes depicted, as here, with an ostrich feather head decoration, which was also found represented in the Weighing of the Heart ceremony during mummification, in which the heart of the deceased was weighed by the jackal-headed god Anubis against the Feather of Maat.

An elegant and fascinating gift for the home.
