Mary Delany Print, Small
Exclusive to the British Museum, a print of the Magnolia Grandiflora collage (1776) by Mary Delany.
Mary Delany (1700-1788) mastered the art of imitating flowers by using tiny pieces of paper to build up her intricate “mosaicks”, like this astonishing magnolia. She began creating her incredible artwork at the tender age of 72, and went on to produce nearly 1,000 pieces.
Many of Mrs. Delany’s collages are now housed in the Prints and Drawings department at the British Museum, having been bequeathed in 1897 by Mary’s great-niece Augusta Hall.
A beautiful home gift.
