A print based on the colour woodblock print titled Warrior Miyamoto Musashi and the Whale (1847 – 1850).

The original was painted by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 – 1861). He was a popular artist who created hit after hit with images in which heroic samurai warriors battle with enormous creatures. In this print he daringly spreads the great body of a whale across all three sheets of a triptych print.
