Widely regarded as one of the most significant archaeological finds in modern history, the bronze Nebra Sky Disc is the earliest surviving maps of the stars. The disc was buried around 3,600 years ago in the Mittelberg hill near Nebra in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, and is now part of the UNESCO Memory of the World. The Disc provides an insight into European pre-historic understandings of astronomy.
