Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese artist best known for his vibrant and detailed woodblock prints. He is widely considered one of Japan’s most famous and influential artists.

The woodblock print forms part of Hokusai's series Shokoku taki-meguri (Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces) and shows a small tea house and the shrine to Fudo Myoo at the base of the waterfall.
