The 21 carat gold-plated brass coins featured on these stylish earrings have been cast from an ancient Roman coin. Coins became highly useful in the Roman Empire, not only as a form of currency, but also as a way to reinforce the current emperor’s supremacy and spread important news. The emperor’s face, and imagery of great battles or important events would be stamped on the coins ready to enter circulation.

Ottoman Hands was established in 2009 in London by Deniz Gurdal who regularly travels to Turkey to product a unique collection of handcrafted jewellery. To this end, she works closely with local Turkish gem cutters and artisans who create one-of-a-kind pieces in which the old Ottoman traditions are blended with modern design aesthetics.
