A sheer scarf with a printed design based on the famous text and hieroglyphs on the Rosetta Stone. The text is highlighted in grey and silver tones. <br> <br>The Rosetta Stone has been housed at the British Museum since 1802, and is one of the Museum's best known exhibits. It was discovered in 1799, by which time all knowledge of the Ancient Egyptian language and writing had been lost for over 1,000 years; however, the Stone's inscription helped scholars to decipher the two Egyptian scripts &#8208; one written with hieroglyphs and one in the cursive demotic script &#8208; from the Greek section at the bottom. <br> <br>The scarf has been designed exclusively for the British Museum.

Designed exclusively for the British Museum, a beautiful silk scarf featuring texts inspired by the Rosetta Stone.

The white silk scarf is decorated with lettering taken from the Rosetta Stone in grey letters, with some details picked out in bright silver foil.

Soldiers in Napoleon’s army discovered the Rosetta Stone in 1799 while digging the foundations of an addition to a fort near the town of el-Rashid (Rosetta). Exhibited in the British Museum since 1802, the Rosetta Stone was the key to unlocking the ability to read and translate ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The Stone contains the same decree in three different scripts, and scholars were able to use the Greek and Egyptian Demotic sections to decipher the ancient hieroglyphs. The text contains a decree passed by priests in 196 BC to honour King Ptolemy V for his services to Egypt.

This stunning sheer scarf will make a perfect gift for lovers of history and language.
